Taking a shot at politics

I have resisted the urge to comment on the current emphasis on politico, but I heard something on the way home tonight that I couldn't resist.

It seems that Sen. John McCain has finally relented and consented to be escorted by the Secret Service. Apparently, up to this point he has felt that his dominating demeanor and Bruce Lee-like physique has staved off any attempts to interrupt his quest for the Big House. But now, perhaps as the dog days of election year roll on, he feels a little more tired, a little more vulnerable.

Now, if he is being escorted by the "Secret Service", why are they making the announcement? Shouldn't it be kept a secret? It would make more sense that if he was being escorted by his friends and family members, they wouldn't mention any of that in the news. But instead they broadcast all over the world that he IS NOW BEING ESCORTED BY THE SECRET SERVICE.

I also heard that Sen.s Obama and Clinton have had SS protection all along.

Funny, I thought McCain being a Republican the current Commander in Chief would have been more concerned in protecting his potential successor....
